These are simple tests that you can do at home to see if that jar of honey you bought is authentic raw honey or not! Ted spoke about how a commercial beekeeper operates, how one prepares to enter the commercial side of beekeeping, and shared some of his experiences – both positive and negative – as a commercial beekeeper. A volunteer member will be demonstrating how to used the Maxant 3100 Honey Extractor at our August 3, 2015 monthly meeting.
We will also have an open discussion on all the intricacies surrounding honey extraction, including when and where to extract, methods of bottling, types of bottles, what judges look for when you enter your honey at competitions and more.
